There are some organizations in Lakeland doing incredible things for the community at large. The PACE Polk Center for Girls is at the forefront of these nonprofits.

PACE provides girls and young women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy. PACE values all young women, believing each one deserves an opportunity to find her voice, achieve her potential, and celebrate a life defined by responsibility, dignity, serenity and grace.

It’s truly a powerful mission.

Baron Realty had the honor of assisting PACE Polk in finding a new headquarters.

They currently reside in our beautiful 101 W. Main Street property, and needed more room to grow and serve. Now, they are moving to 213 Tyler Avenue, which will almost triple their space!

Here are a few incredible statistics from PACE Polk:

76% of girls were failing one or more classes prior to coming to PACE
21% of girls had a prior arrest before coming to PACE

100% had no involvement with Juvenile Justice within a year of leaving PACE
95% improved their academic performance
98% were in school or employed three years after leaving PACE

We sat down with Ellen Katzman, the current executive director of PACE Polk, to discuss the exciting future ahead.

Ellen has been in nonprofit management for over 40 years! She was attracted to PACE because she is so passionate about the vision of helping young girls at risk.

Growing up, Ellen always knew she wanted to help others achieve goals: and what a wonderful challenge to assist those already struggling! Working in the nonprofit arena was the perfect way to serve and fulfill her heartfelt quest.

PACE Polk is expanding rapidly (hence the need for more space). They are always looking to bring more girls into the current program.

There is also a new program PACE Polk is starting called REACH!

REACH places certified therapists directly inside the facility. Girls in the REACH program do not need to be involved in the year-round academic schedule PACE provides, so they can serve an additional 75-100 girls a year!

If you’re looking for inspiration, head over to PACE Polk’s website and read Kyla’s success story. The organization is always looking for volunteers, so give them a call and see how you can participate.

From the Baron Realty team, we wish PACE Polk all the success in the world. We hope to continue providing excellent space and service to businesses looking to make a difference.
